Monday 12 October, we open for registration for the 48th edition of Norway's largest and the most beautiful ski run. We expect a particularly large turnout this year, and therefore open the registration successively: (competition registration opens November 23)

Skarverennet, infection control and Covid-19.
We at Geilo IL have planned for several scenarios with Covid-19 in mind, which means alternative routes, batch start in accordance with the rules that may apply on 17.4.21 and transport / logistics solutions that safeguard the participants' safety and infection control. We have noticed that the authorities have started a careful reopening and normalization of activity in society, and hope - like you - that this continues so that we can arrange the Skarverennet 2021 approximately as normal.
Should there be restrictions on the number of participants, it is first come first served. The final decision on trails, logistics and number of participants will be made by 1.3.21, well before the race which is Saturday 17 April.
100% refund guarantee which also applies to booked accommodation.
Even though it is the sports team that arranges, the entire ski village of Geilo, including the accommodation companies, is part of the charity event that creates this spring's most beautiful adventure, Skarverennet. As a registered participant, you bear no financial risk; should the race - against all odds - be canceled due to Covid-19, we will refund you 100%. This guarantee also applies to booked / paid accommodation in Geilo on the weekend 16-18. April in connection with the race.
Hope is to have something to look forward to.
A new and positive trend was born back in March. The new situation and limitations led us to rediscover the simple and classic joy of being out in nature. Now we go on a trip like never before and we love it. Tens of thousands have spent the night outside, in hammocks and tents, many perhaps for the very first time.
Skarverennet is an old tour classic in a positive sense. Every year we gather more than 12,000 participants for the fantastic trip through the national park along Hallingskarvet. The sound of the skis gliding over the snow, the great view, the unity, the breaks and the joy you feel at the finish - a little tired, but most proud to have completed. Think that something as simple as going skiing can provide so much. These are the moments we live to experience.
We in Geilo sports team are well underway with the preparations for what will be a very special and welcome edition of Skarverennet. As we count down towards the big day, more and more volunteers will join the charity event, during the race weekend we will be closer to 1100 from the sports team, which contributes to Skarverennet also in 2021 being the most beautiful adventure in the spring.
We look forward!
